Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop to look around once in awhile, you could miss it. Ferris gets moving at a fast pace with most everything he does. He also knows that he needs to realize what he is doing it for and make sure he is on the right track. This avoids the issue of all action and no results, or getting the wrong results.
The question isn’t ‘what are we going to do’, the question is ‘what aren’t we going to do?’ Ferris knows that this should all be fun, and fun includes doing a lot of fun things. You don’t make memories by being a bum. You make memories by creating a life full of great stories. It turns out you can make a great movie as well as a great business the same way.
I weep for the future. As said by the Chez Quis maitre ‘d, he hits the nail on the head. Any employer that has run some interviews in the past few years probably feels the same way. It is up to us as leaders to do our best to work with what society has offered us. We also have a responsibility to improve our employees as best we can.
I do have a test today, that wasn’t bullshit. It’s on European Socialism. I’m not European, nor do I plan on being European, so who gives a crap if they’re socialists? It still wouldn’t change the fact that I don’t own a car! Ferris is using his skills of priority to make sure he accomplishes what he wants. He understands that what is important to some people is not necessarily important to him or his goals.
Cameron is so tight, that if you stuck a lump of coal up his ass, and twisted, you’d have a diamond. This is where Ferris really shines. He could get along on his own, without much help from others. But what fun would that be? The people around you that will help you may not be the people you expect to get help from. You may begin to think that you are doing them a favor. Understand that everyone has something to teach you, if you just let them.
First of all you can never go too far. Second of all, if I’m going to be caught, it’s not gonna be by a guy like that! How many limiting beliefs do you have that are holding you back? What motivates you? Ferris illustrates that what others see as limitations he accepts as challenges. Because of his looking ahead and his will to go for more than others dare to dream of, he accomplishes much more than most.
She won’t respect him, ’cause you can’t respect somebody who kisses your ass. It just doesn’t work. Here Ferris is letting us in on what some would consider a secret. You need to stick to your values ahead of your results. Often we are tempted with results that are almost what we want and we end up settling. This is a trap for the weak and should be avoided. Make sure you strive to achieve exactly what you want and never settle for less.
It is his fault he didn’t lock the garage. Often little mistakes can bring on huge consequences. A simple locking of a door could have prevented a Ferrari from blasting backwards through a garage. A little common sense could have saved a lot of headache.
He’ll keep calling me, he’ll keep calling me until I come over. He’ll make me feel guilty. This is uh… This is ridiculous, ok I’ll go, I’ll go, I’ll go, I’ll go, I’ll go. What – I’LL GO. Persistence is the name of the game in just about every part of business. Especially in sales, which is pretty much every part of business.
Hey, Cameron. You realize if we played by the rules right now we’d be in gym? This is such a great line, since you can tweak it and apply it to your own business. You could be working for the man now, instead you’re reading a sweet blog. Where else do you find yourself because you have stepped up?
Only the meek get pinched. The bold survive. If ever there was line to live your life by in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, this is it. There are plenty of meek out there that do not live up to their potential. It takes boldness to risk what is necessary to achieve what is desired.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I. The pleasures of your journey through and to success will be filled with fun and joy. It would be silly not to savor them for what they are. Simple pleasures as rewards for your boldness.
A man with priorities so far out of whack doesn’t deserve such a fine automobile. Ferris understands that material things are great. However they have a limitation in their true value, when compared to love, respect, friendship and a plethora of other things that will not dent or rust.
You’re not dying, you just can’t think of anything good to do. The excuses people will make up to not do something they know they should is often disheartening. Sometimes we need someone like Ferris to boldly challenge our perceptions to get us moving.
Maybe I’m overreacting. Maybe Ferris isn’t such a bad guy. After all, I got a car, he got a computer. But still, why should he get to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants? Why should everything work out for him? What makes him so goddamn special? As thought by Jeannie, Ferris’ sister you almost feel sorry for her. But then you realize she could get all that Ferris has accomplished if she would have been willing to risk what Ferris has. She realizes she has a tinge of respect for the man. Then she begins to learn from him.
Who do you love? Who do you love? You love a car! Cameron begins to take out some frustration with his father on a beautiful Ferrari. What do your employees and customers think of you behind your back? Do they respect you or feel that your priorities are a bit out of whack?
It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. If you are successful in business, you will have the opportunity to enjoy some material wealth. Even enlightened people that are working their way up the ladder of success can appreciate this.
Excuse me: if whoever was in this house is still in the house, I’d like you to know that I’ve just called the police. I’d also like to add that I’ve got my father’s gun and a *scorching* case of herpes. Jeannie is catering her message against the desires of her audience. Do you know what your clients do and do not want to hear? You can cater your pitch as needed to either bring in potential clients or stop some unsavory potential clients from pursuing doing business with you.
Then your problem is you. Who would have known that one of the most powerful insights in this entire classic movie would come from Charlie Sheen? How often do we blame others for circumstances that have little to no real effect on us as we work ourselves up into a tizzy? Sometimes we just need to realize that the events in our lives will happen. We get to control our reactions to those events.
