If you are reading this, you likely own your own business.  If you are planning to start a business, I would like to inform you of the Small Business Hump.

The SBH is the place you start when you first start a business.  Money is bleeding all over the place to pay for your business needs such as a building, updates to the building, cars, trucks, computers, websites, advertising and basically paying for you to grow your new business while the outgoing cash exceeds the incoming cash.

It is tough.

You want to get out of the Small Business Hump as fast as possible.  Get some cash rolling in so you can survive.  I will warn you here, young entrepreneur.  Some business owners stop there.  They get so caught up in getting their business to survival mode, that they equate success with being able to pay bills and live another day.

I am here to offer a better option.

Survival is fine if you are in a jungle, or a boxing ring.  But in these cases and your business you want to dominate.  Your goal is not survival.  Your goal is domination.  Think of it like this.  If it was hard for you to lift a fork, you would likely only eat enough to survive.  But you can lift a fork easily, with little to no thought.  So you eat beyond survival.  You eat for growth (some good and some bad).  You dominate your plate.  I suggest to you that you put yourself in the state of pure domination.  So when the cake of your growing business is served you can take as many bites as you want.

How do you do this?  I suggest 3 simple steps to follow:

  1. Believe it can happen.
  2. Make it happen.
  3. Don’t stop #2.

This is a very small way to state that if you are going to go through the trouble of starting a business, you better be certain it will dominate.  That should make your job easy.  Isn’t that why you started your business?
